The setting is superb, and the meat was excellent. Other dishes didn't live up to their promise, though. Even with a booking, we waited a long time, and the staff were slow and not especially helpful. Prices are affordable and the portions are sensible.

Great service, a wide choice of food and wines, and delicious dishes. A really authentic, one-of-a-kind restaurant. Definitely recommend it.

Calatañazor is the highlight, beautiful and so much like stepping back in time that you can happily wander around over and over. The accommodation still has a lovely rural feel, but it needs some upkeep. Our room was very dim, a few sockets didn't work, including the only bathroom one, which was dismantled, and the lamps over the bed were taped shut. With a bit of maintenance, it could have been ideal.

The setting was wonderful, and we saw a family dining with their dog, which I loved. The waiters were attentive, though I only guessed they were Argentinian from their accents. The man who welcomed us and took the order was rather curt, but otherwise fine. We liked the chorizo and porcini scramble, the bread, and the house wine. The sirloin with mushrooms was excellent. The lamb was tasty and roasted just right, but at that price it didn't seem worth it, as it looked like a cut from the same quarters listed on the menu. Next time, I'd try to persuade my partner to order a whole quarter, since paying more for a larger portion seems worthwhile. The cheesecake was the letdown: it was made without baking, didn't taste of cheese, and had a biscuit-like base. We'd come back for grilled mushrooms and a quarter of lamb.
