Holiday Studio Horizonte

The building itself is clean, and it’s right by the sea with friendly neighbors. There are many nice studios here, but Room 300, listed online as “calpe primera linea con piscina,” is only worth considering for its direct sea view. Inside, the cleanliness was unacceptable. Even after airing it out for hours, there was a smell of cigarette smoke and/or pets. Dust stuck to my feet as I walked, and the toilet seat and kitchen sink still had stains from the previous guest. The shower had limescale and rust. The balcony door lock was broken, the furniture was outdated, and the main room lights flickered. The bed linens were stained too, though a friendly studio owner next door lent me clean ones. The photos are misleading, and the studio badly needs renovation. I told the owner about everything, but he denied it and said the cleaning lady cleaned it very frequently. He offered a cancellation and a 50% refund, but after several follow-ups and two weeks, I still hadn’t received the full amount. He was generally willing to talk, but didn’t fully keep his word. The sea view, friendly neighbors, and clean rest of the building are why I didn’t give it one star. Don’t be taken in by Room 300’s view. There are cleaner, modern studios in this building, even without a direct sea view.

Edificio Horizonte, Tramuntana 4, Calpe is clean and very well maintained. It has a few permanent residents and lots of lovely little studios for rent. But don’t book Room 300 on the third floor under any circumstances. The Booking.com photos do NOT match what’s there. The furnishings are ancient and dirty, and the smell is awful, presumably from dogs or other animals that were kept inside. Airing it out for hours made no difference because the old furniture had absorbed the odor. There is no space for 300 people on the third floor! Not Room 300! Sleeping there was torture, and it was too late to find somewhere else. After I complained, the landlord promised to cut the price in half, which I generously accepted, but he never kept that promise. I have proof of what he promised.

They’re studios, so they’re very small, but fine for two people. The pool is amazing.

Apartment 200 was spotless and very well looked after, with lovely views. It’s just right for two people, and private parking is available for the apartment. I highly recommend it.
