The charming first impression of the property was overshadowed by what I saw behind the scenes. The employees were consistently friendly and professional, but it was heartbreaking to watch them be pulled in so many directions without what seemed like enough support or resources. Reception staff were handling the front desk, then being rushed into the kitchen to help prepare food and clean up. This felt exploitative, beyond ordinary multitasking. It seemed the owners were putting the hotel’s operation ahead of their employees’ wellbeing, expecting them to juggle several demanding jobs at once. Nobody should have to work under that kind of pressure, and I could see the toll it was taking. Had I known about this toxic work environment, I would have booked somewhere else. As guests, I think we should support businesses that treat their staff fairly and with respect. I rarely leave a negative review, but this left me genuinely distraught. I urge people considering a stay to think twice and not support what feels like an abusive, unsustainable model that undervalues dedicated staff. There are plenty of wonderful hotels that prioritise guests and staff welfare. Please look elsewhere, your conscience will thank you.

The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally clean, with breathtaking views from the hotel. The food was exquisite, every dish prepared with great care. Hotel Bella Colina was fantastic for relaxing and unwinding, and I’ll definitely return and recommend it to everyone. From the start, the service made me feel special. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help.

The terrace is lovely, with background music, great plants and shade, and room to sit while the staff set up the tables. They were singing and chatting as they worked, and I didn’t see anyone unhappy. I’d read a review saying they were unhappy and made to multitask, really? Reception is lovely too, and the atmosphere is laid-back and relaxed. Breakfast was more than enough: a big Spanish selection, an egg station, and fresh crusty bread. The coffee comes from a machine and orange juice from a chilled dispenser. I can’t see how anyone would complain about the choice. The other guests are mostly German, which was great. Nobody was playing annoying music on a phone or iPad or making loudspeaker calls, and the kids behaved well, though other children may misbehave. There were only a few sunbeds taken by 10am. We had a poolside room and it was completely quiet at night, with carpet runners in the hall to reduce noise. We liked the look of this place from the start. A couple of bad reviews after booking made my wife consider moving, but I’m glad we stayed. Our late check-in was a little slow, but not bad, and that’s the end of anything negative. The hotel is eclectic, with art throughout and amazing furnishings. We’re looking forward to the rest of our stay, though it won’t be long enough. No fridge, no sockets, not enough bread choice? Really? We have two sockets for charging things, and the fresh crunchy bread is right next to the eggs. Bed and breakfast never used to include a fridge. People need to get a grip and remember what B&B used to be like.
