Hostal Jakiton

I prepaid the first night at Hostal Jakiton through Booking.com, which offered free cancellation. I cancelled within that period, but the hotel still charged me. For weeks, the property and Booking.com kept sending me back and forth, each saying the other had to issue the refund. After more than two months with no progress, Revolut finally resolved the dispute directly and got my money back.

I'd never stayed in a hostel before, but I booked this one after reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed. It's a lovely place to put your head down: comfy beds, clean sheets, a fridge, coffee station and your own shower. It's right on the beach, and I used Palma Nova beach, which was lovely. I'd definitely stay again.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the hostel had a huge balcony. It was close to both the beach and the bus stop for Palma and the airport. The air conditioning worked well enough to sleep with the windows shut, so the noise from drunk tourists stayed outside.

Booking.com offered free cancellation, but after I cancelled, hotel Jakiton didn't return the first night's charge. They said that after 90 days I had to ask my bank for the refund because, under VISA policy, they could no longer start it themselves. My bank said it also couldn't claim the money back after 90 days under the same policy. Hotel Jakiton never mentioned that free cancellation wouldn't be possible after that point. Luckily, Booking.com helped and refunded me. The hotel was also hacked. I received a message on Booking.com from hotel Jakiton asking me to verify my VISA card again, but it turned out to be credit card fraud.
