The area is lovely and the house feels cozy, but dealing with the owner ended up spoiling our holiday. We agreed in advance that pets were allowed. Afterward, he complained about finding some pet hair, which seems inevitable after a two-week stay. There was only one garbage bag for those two weeks, no laundry detergent or capsules, and no shampoo or shower gel. The open fireplace left a strong burned-wood smell, and the ground-floor furniture was old. Our neighbors said the downstairs bedroom was very humid, and they had to air out and dry their blankets and sheets outdoors every day. The barbecue didn't have a usable grill, so you should expect to buy one and bring all the supplies yourself. We understood this wasn't a hotel with daily cleaning or fresh towels and sheets, and we took care of those ourselves. What we didn't expect was the owner making a huge issue of the apartment not being perfectly clean when we left. His claims that it was "super dirty and trash everywhere" were completely untrue. We left no garbage, and everything was tidy and in good condition. The rent should cover cleaning after guests. Instead, he made it into a big drama. After two weeks, you clean once at the end, not every couple of days, so it takes less time overall. That shouldn't ruin an otherwise nice impression. If cleaning or pets mean an extra charge, just list a cleaning fee or pet fee separately. That's at least honest and clear. It's a pity to have to deal with owners like this while on holiday.
