Casa Mario

The owners are wonderful and very helpful. It’s a clean country house with nice rooms, all with their own bathrooms, and it’s very close to the Muniellos Nature Reserve. Highly recommended.

The setting is peaceful, surrounded by pristine nature, and the people here share useful route ideas and recommendations with travelers. There’s also a restaurant-shop-bar in the village that raises its own livestock and grows its own vegetables. The place itself is friendly, simple, and very affordable, with beautiful, comfortable facilities kept spotless. Breakfast is included, and it’s generous and delicious. A magical stay, with the peace and quiet many of us need.

We had the green room, decorated in green with lots of thoughtful details. It was made of stone and wood, very quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. The heating was on, and our stay felt very comfortable. It was 03/11/2024, though the day itself was spectacular and not cold. Inside, the house is much more beautiful than it looks from outside, and everything is very well cared for, including the hundred-year-old Granary. The room had a hairdryer, gels, and shampoo. The owners are super friendly. Breakfast was served in a nicely decorated space that used to look more like a bar-shop. It was spectacular, with milk, coffee, a product richer than COLACAO, chorizo omelette, toasted loaf bread, cheese, quince, honey, jams, donuts, butter, all kinds of fruit, yogurts, and fresh orange juice. The arrival was extraordinary. We parked nearby, and although the road there is narrow, there’s plenty of space in front of the Casona. Helena's husband looked after us, a very polite gentleman with a soft voice who was super attentive. When we left, he gave us donuts for the trip, one of several lovely things he did. His wife checks you in and takes your details for you to sign, explaining everything in great detail in her soft-spoken way.

Casa Mario was unbeatable for our stay. The area is spectacular, with incredible landscapes, and the house is excellent, from the rooms to the cleanliness. Magdalena knows the area perfectly, answers questions straight away, and is very professional. The hosts are friendly and helpful, explaining what you need to know to visit local attractions. Breakfast is hearty and made with homemade local products. There’s also a workshop for traditional local weaving. Magdalena explains the techniques, and you can even try weaving yourself. Fantastic. I highly recommend it.
