Hotel Los Castaños

The rooftop terrace was a lovely spot to unwind, with beautiful views, and our balcony room looked out over the mountains too. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and decorated in a Moroccan style. Di and John made us feel very welcome, and Di cooked three delicious dinners during our three nights here. We enjoyed the walks nearby and a trip to Ronda. Cartajima is such a pretty white village, and we're already looking forward to coming back.

Cartajima made a great base for walks and for exploring Ronda. We got the fresh air, sunshine, and lovely views we were hoping for over Easter. This was our third stay at Hotel Los Castaños, and the welcome was warm again, with a spotless, comfortable room and delicious food. We had dinner there one night, and Di served us a gourmet three-course meal with a lovely local wine. If you want somewhere pleasant to stay near Ronda, we'd recommend it.

The rooms are spacious, and I especially love the beds with their big, soft white duvets. Add the excellent cooking, the dramatic Mediterranean views, and the log fire, and there's plenty to enjoy. We've stayed at this charming hotel three times now and find something new to love on each visit. It's in a peaceful rural setting, yet only a short drive from Ronda. The friendly, interesting couple hosting us made an impression beyond what we'd expect in town or country, and they seem to draw in interesting, nice guests. It's highly recommended. It's now under new ownership, though I'm sure it's good too!

The mountain setting was wonderfully secluded, just right for unwinding and enjoying the nature and solitude after the city buzz. My mom and I spent Christmas at Los Castaños in an inclusive package with eight other guests. The rooms had slippers and robes, and Di and John had thought through the details to make the stay comfortable and stress-free. Di's cooking was great, with Spanish dishes and food from other countries, and the wine selection was perfect. We also liked getting to know the other guests and arranging walks to nearby villages. We rented a car, but found the roads a bit narrow for us. John was a huge help with parking.
