Getting there was a nightmare. The house was very cold, and we were expected to refuel the generator ourselves. The fire produced loads of smoke and fumes, as if the flue wasn't working properly.

Montse, the manager, was kind and helpful, and we had a great time. We were four people there for six days, and found the house both beautiful and cozy. The spacious terrace was great for barbecues, and the quiet setting was ideal for getting away from the city and its noise. The kitchen could use a little more light, but otherwise everything was great. We'd definitely go again. In Tronchón, we recommend eating at Casa Matilde, and a walk around Pitarque to see the source of the river.

For me, it's a little paradise: lovely villages nearby, and the Bergantes River is half an hour away, with fantastic pools at a really pleasant temperature. It's a peaceful place with great views and just the right temperature. The owners were friendly and attentive the whole time. I'd recommend it to anyone after quiet, star-filled skies and a splendid moon.

The fireplace and the option to barbecue outside were a real bonus. We stayed three days, surrounded by nature, and it was absolutely spectacular. The owner was very friendly, and you can tell she's improving the facilities. The electricity now comes from solar panels, and we had no problems with it. The shower did get a little cold because the water temperature wasn't regulated very well, but the comfort overall more than made up for that.

We had a great stay, and I'd definitely choose it again. The house is lovely for switching off in the mountains, and the woman in charge is very friendly. There's no cell service, so making a call means walking a few minutes up the path. The roads are paved, but more like firebreaks: no painted lines or guardrails. They're wide and not too winding, though. You'll need to keep an eye on the generator and refuel it now and then. The first couple of times are a bit of a hassle, but it runs for about six hours, so a little planning is enough to keep it from running out. Don't be put off renting it.
