Motel Abalo

The location was quite good, and being able to come and go freely without any hassle was the best part. But the room had no light, the TV didn't work properly, and it felt a bit cold because the air conditioning wasn't working right. Customer service answered quickly when we called, but the problems weren't fixed.

I was in room 27 on Wednesday and got so cold that today I was in bed with a fever. There wasn't any soap in the dish when I went to shower, or even a small individual gel or soap. Being able to drive right up to the room was the one good thing. Awful. What I paid was a load of shit.

The two cleaning ladies were helpful, even though they wouldn't give me their names. The manager was nowhere to be found. It was a terrible experience, honestly. Our room was 28°C (82°F), and I couldn't tell if the air conditioning was broken or kept very restricted to save energy. There was a smoke detector, but it seemed either switched off or not working, since the rooms smelled strongly of tobacco. The cleaner showed me several rooms, and the armchairs and curtains in mine both reeked of smoke. Every room had an ashtray, and I even saw one full of cigarette butts in a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Smoking seemed to be allowed throughout the motel, despite being against the law. I wouldn't bring children, and anyone sensitive to smells should avoid it too. I'd never understood the difference between a hotel and a motel before, but now I do. What a disaster.

In room 18, the shower was incredibly loud and the walls so thin we could hear the person next door peeing. The whirlpool tub and hairdryer didn't work, the bathroom sink was clogged, and the paint was peeling, among other issues. Drinks were very expensive. We paid €53 for 12 hours. If you don't book through Booking.com, they charge €30 extra, though then the stay is from 3:00 PM to 12:00 PM for the same price. We checked in at 3:00 PM after a long drive and needed rest, but by 3:00 AM we could hear each other. We're never coming back. Other reviews about this room from a while ago mentioned problems too, and they still haven't been fixed. This isn't a serious business. Reply to reply: They never told me about the different rates. At check-in, we asked what the rates were and were only told €53 for 12 hours, even though we needed a different kind of service. We'd crossed the country several times on a long trip and needed a rest. Being a young couple in a motel doesn't mean you're going to do X thing 😒 That's what I have a house for 😂 It was their mistake, and the information they gave us was poor. They also failed to mention there was a rate with a hot tub. They charged us and screwed us 🙃
