Hipotels Barrosa Garden Hotel

The beach is huge and so wide that even in high season you can usually find a spot with about five metres between you and the next person. Such a luxury. The sea can have strong waves, though it’s often calm enough for swimming. Snorkeling isn’t worthwhile here. We love coming to this hotel for holidays: it’s in a perfect location, the food is very good, and there’s lots of Spanish fish alongside enough choices for vegetarians. The meat is good, too. The dessert bar is a favorite, especially making your own ice cream creations. Fun for grown-ups as well, and delicious.

The kids are still asking to go back to their “holiday's home,” which says a lot. They had loads of fun, and the staff were lovely. There’s a new indoor play structure with different attractions and games. The children were safe and happy around the resort, while Dad went to the gym and Mum enjoyed the spa. We relaxed, liked the food and surroundings, and had a nice view from the balcony. Most of the tourists were German, and the activity and meal times seemed to follow a German schedule. It was a wonderful family stay.

I especially liked how child-friendly the place is. The kids’ activities are good, and there’s enough to keep them occupied, even if nothing is fancy or luxurious. The beach nearby is beautiful, and there’s a bar included with the hotel. Food and bars are very good, and the staff are friendly. The gardens are lovely and very well maintained. The interior and public space furniture feel a bit dated, though they’re kept in good shape. One thing I noticed about the pool: it’s heated when it’s around 26 outside, but once it gets above 30 the heating is turned off and the water quickly feels colder, too cold for me. I’d like to see the interior refreshed. For me, it’s an excellent hotel for kids.

Helpful staff and plenty of things for the kids to do. The hotel was nice and centrally located, with a lovely beach about a 5-10 minute walk away. Parking around the hotel was free outside July.
