The Alevante Bar has an impressive view, though the staff can be unfriendly, especially when it gets busy. The hotel itself is attractive, comfortable, and has well-kept facilities with a pleasant atmosphere. The buffet needs more variety, particularly for people with food intolerances or dietary restrictions. During our week, the same dessert appeared every day, which was disappointing, and the restaurant staff couldn’t sort it out. The entertainment also fell short of what I’d expect at a resort in this category. You can’t see the beach from the main plaza, and it isn’t possible to have breakfast or dinner in the main restaurant with a sea view. The food choices and entertainment could be much better for a five-star hotel.

The Easter egg hunt was a letdown, with just four plastic eggs and very little effort. The beach club was closed, and the outdoor pool was so cold it couldn’t be used. Our room was pleasant but very small, with the child’s bed right beside ours. The hotel is beautiful, especially the rooftop, and the service was generally very good. But breakfast and room service food were both very poor. We raised the issue and got no response at all, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Several important things need work, particularly the food and activities for families.

The beds are fantastic, with feather pillows and duvets, and the hotel has a lot of potential. But the central air conditioning only runs in summer, so it couldn’t be switched on. Staff friendliness varied, and there wasn’t much of a can-do attitude. I also couldn’t find a decent cup of coffee.

The natural beauty and quiet at Palacio de Sancti Petri Gran Meliá gave me a real creative boost. As a musician, I don’t often find a place that sparks ideas like that, and the surroundings inspired my new compositions. The facilities are world-class, the sea views are breathtaking, and the beach and its water were spectacularly clean. It was a five-star experience. I’ve shared photos and videos on my linked Google Profile, Instagram, and YouTube, including how the trip influenced my latest music. You won’t regret the stay or the inspiration.
