Breakfast was easily the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. The place was spotless, with lovely rooms and really friendly staff. Being right by the marina was great, and the adults-only setting made it even better.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, though they could probably do with an update. There’s a big pool and a decent programme of entertainment, and both breakfast and dinner buffets were fine. It’s adults-only and right by the Cala'n Bosch marina, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

The extra charges and some awkward rules took away from what was otherwise a calm, clean stay. Men had to wear trousers at the dinner buffet, but nobody told us about that rule, so we had to go out and buy a pair. The safe also cost €10 a day, plus a €7 key deposit, if I remember right. We got just two pool towels for the whole stay, and each exchange cost a non-refundable €1 per towel. Breakfast didn’t start until 8 am, which made it hard to eat before heading out to the popular beaches around 7. The takeaway breakfast was a sandwich, a poor-quality orange juice that seemed like the cheapest available, and a packaged cupcake. The hotel itself was quiet, the rooms stayed spotless, and most staff were around and happy to help. The breakfast and dinner staff were especially attentive and seemed to enjoy their work. Still, the rooms, buffet area and reception all looked dated, and those policies made the price feel too high for the experience.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They met us off the coach with bottled water and a linen face cloth while we checked in, then took our bags to the room. Everyone was polite, helpful and willing to do whatever they could. We stayed half board, and the food was varied and excellent every time. The room was amazing and cleaned daily, and the pool and loungers were fantastic. We were told lots of guests come back each year for a happy, relaxing holiday, and I can see why. We loved our stay at Valentin and will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful holiday, and good luck for the future. The Townsend's Room 327
