Hostal Palacio del Corregidor

Fran at the desk was a delight and went out of his way to help. The hotel has a lot of charm and is in a good location. Don't come expecting luxury, but it's an ideal place to stay in Cordoba.

The building is old and converted, and ventilation and lighting are poor. I had to block the drain to keep odors down, the only real complaint. Better bedding and ventilation could make this place very charming. The room itself was clean, had toilet paper and simple toiletries, and was well air-conditioned, so I didn't feel cold. The water pressure was a pleasant surprise, and it was warm enough in winter. Bring your own drinking water. My room was in a corner after I requested somewhere quiet, and whether it stayed quiet depended on the neighbors. Luckily, mine were quiet. Reception was flexible and friendly, and getting to the train station was easy. The courtyard is beautiful and classic, and the location makes it easy to walk everywhere. I was a little concerned after reading the bad reviews, but the hotel matched the price I paid.

The location was handy, within walking distance of the main sights, and the room was a decent size. But the pillows were hard, and when the AC began leaking, they said I couldn't move rooms. They brought a bucket and a towel for the dripping water. I barely slept, and although they fixed the unit the next day, they wouldn't offer a discount for the inconvenience.

The receptionist was nice, and the lobby was cozy. There isn't breakfast, but there are plenty of choices nearby. The hotel's location is great, but we had booked a room for two three months ahead and were given one with three beds, which we didn't need and thought looked ugly for a vacation. On top of that, we had a lizard in the room.
