Mas Fuselles

The outdoor play spaces were a big hit: one has a large playground and zip line, while the other has a trampoline, a huge treehouse with rope bridges, two more zip lines, a maze, and half a soccer pitch. There's also a massive indoor playroom with a ball pit, climbing equipment, ride-on cars, a kitchen, books, and more. In April, our kids also loved the farm animals, planting crops, and all the toys and activities. The place is built around organic, sustainable living, with solar power and crops grown for guests without chemicals or machinery, using natural compost. The play areas were well looked after. We really enjoyed the food. Breakfast and dinner were included, and Nacio is a wonderful cook. We had stuffed peppers with eggplant, fish and couscous, beef, and chicken stew. Breakfast came with plenty of meat, cheese, vegetables, fresh eggs, and lovely bread. He doesn't speak English, but Google Translate made it easy to communicate. The location worked really well for day trips. We visited the coast, Roman and Greek ruins, Besalu's old city, Banyoles lake, the crater, and plenty more. There was time to relax, swim in the farm's warm and cold pools, and have adventures nearby. Can Boix, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, is only six minutes away. Our room was in an old stone villa, with a rustic feel. The beds were comfortable, and there were good sleeping options for families. Ours had a king bed, a low children's queen bed, and a toddler twin bed. The sheets and towels were a little worn, and could be better. Mas Fuselles is a great fit for families who want their kids outdoors, enjoying the world and learning about animals. We had an amazing stay; it's a paradise for children.

Narcís was friendly and helpful, and the children we traveled with had a really enjoyable stay. Still, the property needs a lot of maintenance. The rooms had mold and dirt in corners, as did the shared areas, and the air conditioning wasn't working. Two dogs wandered around freely, went into the pool, and relieved themselves wherever they liked. The children's play area was very neglected, and the mosquito nets were torn. The common area is also far from the rooms, which is awkward when relying on baby monitors. I wouldn't return.

The paella they made for us was spectacular, and Narcís was especially welcoming. He put in a lot of effort for the children, with treasure hunts, a look around the farm, and pony and donkey rides. There are spacious, lovely outdoor areas with playgrounds, zip lines, treehouses, and a couple of pools. The separate main living room is handy too, since staying up and making noise there won't disturb people sleeping. The house could use an update, especially the beds and bathroom curtains, and the general cleanliness could be improved a bit. Even so, the hospitality and outdoor facilities made the stay worthwhile for me.
