The birdlife was a treat, especially the astonishing Golden Orioles on the property, which stole the show from the nuthatches, nightingales, woodpeckers and owls. We spent a very enjoyable, relaxing week at Valle del Arroyo at the end of April, thanks to Johan & Luc, who were friendly, helpful and generous hosts. We found exactly the peaceful break we wanted: comfortable accommodation, lovely surroundings, and a great base for gentle walks, with masses of wildflowers at that time of year. The pool exceeded expectations and was very welcome. The beds, shower and water quality were great, and so were the fantastic breakfasts. We’ve stayed at several places in Extremadura to the north, but Valle del Arroyo tops them all. We’d highly recommend a stay here.

Johan and Lucas have made a magical place. They’re incredibly friendly and helpful when you have questions about what to see or do, and they’re perfect hosts.

The stone cottage manages to feel rustic and luxurious at once, and we enjoyed it so much. We spent the days on lovely walks and the evenings relaxing by the fire. Luc and Johan were superb hosts, intelligent, respectful, helpful, and lovely to chat with. “Amazing” gets used too much, but it really fits this place. Hopefully we’ll return, though it’s a long way from Oz.

A beautiful, peaceful finca with comfortable, private cottages, where all you hear are birds and frogs. The breakfasts were excellent, and so were the culinary dinners. It’s well placed for walks in the lovely surroundings, or you can just relax by the fabulous natural pool. Great hosts too. Highly recommended, it has everything you could wish for.

The hosts were wonderfully engaging and made the stay feel thoughtful and personal. Everything was immaculately presented, and the peaceful setting made it easy to unwind. Breakfast was delicious, with attentive service and local produce. No faults at all, and we’d return any time of year. Thanks, Johan & Luc. I’d encourage anyone wanting to get away from city life to visit this fabulously tranquil part of Spain. It’s about an hour’s drive from Sevilla, with amazing views and beautiful local villages that feel almost untouched, right in the middle of a national park.
