Sunset Bay Club

There are some nice things here: the location is good, cafés and pubs are nearby, and there are good views. The accommodation is spacious, there’s a local shop in the square with lovely pastries, and the pool is big enough. It’s within walking distance of the beach, there’s space to park mobility scooters outside, it feels safe, and it’s good for kids. But there are loads of stairs and it’s very hilly. Check-in is up a massive steep bank, and if your apartment is near the pool, you have to go back down again. Apartments can be hard to find, especially above the café bars opposite the swimming pool. Kids aren’t allowed to play with floaties or balls in the pool. If you leave your sunbed for lunch for more than 20 minutes, your towels may be removed. We saw lots of cockroaches in July. You have to walk through café and bar seating to get to and from your apartment, and there’s a lot of evening noise from the bars. They’re full of regulars who all seem to know each other, so it’s impossible to get a seat for the entertainment.

We stayed as a couple for three nights. The location was nice, with everything close by, and our room had a huge balcony with sun loungers. The place is like a maze, though, and reception was hard to find. We also paid a 100 euro deposit that we were told would be released on checkout night. A week later, it still hadn’t come back. We left the room as we found it, and I even stripped the beds to make things easier, so I’m a bit confused.

We had a wonderful holiday at Sunset Bay Club and I’ll definitely be back. The apartments had everything we needed, and staff across the property were great, from the front desk to the workers around the grounds. At both pools, the friendly staff served hot food and drinks. The coffee at the upper pool each morning is well worth getting.

The reception staff are really friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect, with the beach and lots of good places to eat and drink close by. The apartments at Sunset Bay are always lovely and clean, and the pool area has a great atmosphere.
