La Casa del Orfebre

Modern, spotless, and ideally located. A perfect place to stay in Cuenca!

Maryna was a wonderful host, always responsive and helpful even though we didn't meet in person. We had a problem with the access code, but it was sorted out quickly. The apartment itself is lovely, well equipped, and centrally located, with great views. In the historic center there are no elevators, so we had to carry our suitcase up two flights of stairs. If the Christ of the Passageway is kind to us, we'll return, and we'll recommend the place to everyone we know. Cuenca is spectacular!

The room was cozy, clean, and spacious enough for two, so we felt comfortable and relaxed. We were there over a holiday weekend during the San Juan festivities, parked in a nearby lot that was open all the time, and even with a medieval fair right below the building, we couldn't hear anything at night.

Marina never emailed the check-in details, and I had to call twice because she wasn't answering. The keypad didn't work, so I'd suggest getting the keys from the start. We also found out that the historic center would be closed on Sunday for the procession only the day before. Marina had told us about a street where we could park, but not about the closure. We moved the car outside the center in time to leave on Sunday. The cottage was clean and the views were lovely, but I was very unhappy with the hostess and the lack of basic supplies. There wasn't enough toilet paper, no paper towels or kitchen roll, and no welcome touches. I'd read reviews mentioning beer left at some accommodations, but we didn't even have enough toilet paper. We had to use our own tissues despite having paid a considerable price.
