La Ronda del Beso

At night, the place became impossible for us. You could hear footsteps upstairs and all the shouting and laughter from the bar below through the old windows. The decor felt creepy, and nobody could sleep, so we had to leave. During the day, the decor was peculiar, and there was an unusually large level difference. Getting from the bathroom to the living room meant hauling yourself up a big step, which we hadn’t been warned about. We were meant to stay at another apartment, but because our check-in time didn’t work, they suggested one they had farther down on La Moneda. We agreed because it was meant to be in the same area, but it was nothing like the original, and it was downstairs when we were supposed to be upstairs. The owner blamed us for not saying sooner that we disliked it, though we explained that several problems had built up and came to a head at night. There was no refund, or even a small conciliatory comment.
