They cancelled my booking with less than 24 hours’ notice, after I’d arranged accommodation for a visiting relative. Their message said the hostel would be closed the next day because of a breakdown. I really wish I’d checked the reviews before booking. Think twice, you might be better off with a sleeping bag on the beach.

There aren’t many hotels to choose from in Villaricos, and this is fine for a short budget stay. The staff are helpful and the decor is practical, though dated. The hot water takes about five minutes to reach the shower. It’s centrally located, and only the front rooms have a sea view. The basic essentials are all there.

A pleasant little village setting, with clean rooms, though they’re on the small side and there’s a hot water issue. They only take cash, and it feels expensive for what you get compared with other places. If

The hosts took 600 euros from my partner without authorisation, using her card details. Barclays’ fraud department investigated and found that they had indeed stolen the money.

Simple, clean, and nice.
