Coral Cotillo Beach

The location is a real plus, just a short walk from some incredible beach views. The pools were spacious and inviting, the food was delicious, and the gym was well equipped. Reception staff were very friendly. I had a comfortable, clean enough room with a great view of the courtyard. WiFi didn’t reach it, despite me paying for it, so I had to use the hall outside. The shower also switched on by itself at night. One restaurant porter, who may not work there now, put his hands on me and nearly shoved me out because I didn’t have small change to pay for dinner. I’ve never been treated so rudely by a staff member.

We had a great stay. Breakfast was good, and the large pool and nearby restaurants and supermarkets made the location really convenient. Thanks especially to René, the sports and dance coach. He was so positive and great at teaching us Latin dances. It made the stay memorable.

The rooms have been renovated nicely and feel cozy, and they were extremely clean. The cleaning staff did an amazing job, and I really enjoyed the big breakfast buffet, which had everything I needed. The hotel is well placed for a stay in El Cotillo, though I’d recommend having a car since there’s no rental place close by. I enjoyed my stay and thought it was a good hotel. The building itself is still old, though, and the thin walls made that hard to ignore. I could hear a neighbor snoring, conversations next door, and people passing outside from around 8:30 in the morning. It was fairly quiet after 10pm at first, since there weren’t many young people around, but that changed today. I hope they’ll be tired. One suggestion for the staff: deal with the gray street pigeons on the property before they multiply. I don’t mean the little brown ones. I’d hate to see them wandering around the pool and restaurant areas.

El Cotillo was a lovely surprise. It’s a good-sized village with shops, restaurants, and superb beaches. Playa del Aljibe de la Cueva south of the village and La Concha in the north were especially nice. The northern part of La Concha is popular with nudists. I’d happily visit El Cotillo again, but I wouldn’t book Hotel Coral Cotillo Beach. The hotel felt dated. The lift was out of order, some pool tiles were missing, and the room was shabby, though clean, with a faint musty bathroom smell. Breakfast was good, but several coffee machines were sometimes out of service, causing long lines. There was a QR code on the room wall advertising a special upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board. Staff didn’t know about the offer and wouldn’t sell it to us, even after we showed it to them. That was unacceptable. I sent feedback through the hotel website and never got a reply. We spent the money elsewhere and ended up finding lots of lovely restaurants in El Cotillo.
