Hotel Montemar

The staff were lovely, and the room and bathroom were clean, though both felt tired. We would have liked fresh towels every morning, plus a kettle and mini fridge. Still, it was excellent value, and we only stayed a couple of nights.

For a budget holiday, this place has what you need. We asked for a quiet room and got one, and it was spotless. The air con worked perfectly, the bathroom was functional, and they provide a hairdryer and beauty products. There’s a great cafeteria downstairs with lovely food at very competitive prices. The location worked perfectly for walking to the Spanish village and La Marina beach. A wonderful stay for what we paid each night.

We visited at the end of a rainy March. The clean, tidy room had a good bed, and the shower was so powerful it left the whole bathroom floor soaked. Great value for a 3star budget hotel.

We just ate at the hotel, and it was terrible. The menu del dia was really poor, the service was bad even though the place wasn’t busy, and the tapas didn’t help. The mussels were tasteless, and the small, basic goats cheese salad was supposed to come with rocket but had iceberg lettuce instead. At €9, it felt way overpriced. They forgot our tempura vegetables, and the menu del dia stew looked and tasted disgusting. There was only one kind of bottled beer and none on tap. It feels like they’re running the place into the ground.
