Allsun Hotel Esquinzo Beach

The food was good and most of the staff were friendly, so the stay was okay. There were lots of bugs in our room, though, and the cleaning could have been much better. It also seemed odd that we had to pay extra for the play equipment, safe, and towels when we'd booked all-inclusive.

We asked for a quiet wing and a sea-view room, and got both. The pools, including the kids' pool, bars, and restaurant were still easy to reach, and despite the hotel's size it never felt too crowded. I also liked that the bar music stayed in the background, leaving room to relax and hear the wind and sea. The meals had plenty of choice, both within each sitting and from one meal to the next. They were much better than I expected from my first all-inclusive stay. The location was great, the rooms were lovely, and we had a great week at Allsun Esquinzo Beach. I've already recommended it to friends. The hotel mostly caters to Germans. Staff also speak English, but usually start in German, and the entertainment is in German. Dish labels are mainly in German, with English and Spanish in smaller print. We didn't mind, though some guests might.

Antonio, Manuel, and the slim Spanish lady were always smiling and quick at their work. The whole team was very helpful, and the service was just perfect. Very nice people and good food. I'll be back. Thank you.

The beach was a pleasant seven-minute walk away, and we often swam in the sea. The public loungers and umbrellas cost 5 euros each, which I found too expensive, as they seemed to be across the island. The lower pool was only 17 degrees Celsius and barely used, while the upper one was 24. Solar heating might be an easy way to warm the lower pool. There could also be more loungers in the garden. As early risers we always found one, though I can imagine late risers may have a harder time. Our renovated room and bathroom had comfortable beds, and we enjoyed seeing the sunrise each day. The sea-facing side also faces the street, though, and the air conditioning didn't cool the room properly. With no fly screen on the balcony door, we had to choose between a warm, quiet night or a cooler room with morning car noise and sometimes mosquitoes. Better cooling and a fly screen would make a big difference. Swapping bath towels cost 1.50 euros. That's not much, but it seemed illogical when we sometimes had eight or more towels in the room. We stayed over Christmas and New Year's Eve 2024. The grounds were spotless and well kept, staff were very friendly, and the food was always tasty. The buffet and terrace stayed clean, and dishes were replenished quickly. For the price, I think the hotel is an easy choice. There wasn't much to complain about, even though a few things weren't perfect. There were special dinners on December 25 and New Year's Eve, with a required reservation for either the early or late sitting. The New Year's Eve food was much better than the Christmas meal. Since both sittings arrived to eat at once, there were waits. They were annoying but bearable, and the wait was worth it on New Year's Eve. I would have preferred no Christmas event at all, since we went to Fuerteventura because we didn't want anything to do with Christmas. January 2025
