Hostal La Rúa

The owner was lovely and had great suggestions for places to eat and visit. The building has been renovated while keeping much of its old charm, and it looks stunning. For me, this was one of the cleanest and best places on the Camino, with a perfect location, a great shower, and comfortable beds.

After a long day on the bike, we found a comfortable place to stay. The ride had started 70km west in the rain and finished in the sun. The restored building is beautiful, with tasteful design and a glorious view of the river from our window. The owner was helpful, and guests can use a very nice kitchenette.

My daughter has special needs and walks with foot braces, and Asun, the owner and manager of La Rua, went out of her way to make the hostel and our room work for her. She called several times before we arrived to ask what was needed and prepare the room. Asun is professional, accommodating, and sweet. The restored old house is beautiful, and the hostel has spotless rooms, lobby, and terrace with the quality and feel of a five-star hotel. We were staying with a friend in another room and had views from both ends of the hostel: one side looked over the well-kept old town and mountains, the other over the beautiful old houses and the creek just below. Estella is a quaint, lovely town, and people are friendly. Some even bathe in the creek to cool off in the summer heat. There are nice, inexpensive restaurants and shops nearby. The Camino De Santiago passes right along the small old stone road where the hostel sits, which is handy if you’re walking it. It’s beautiful and easy to walk in either direction. I’ve stayed in glamorous and simple hotels in many places over more than forty years, and this adorable little hostel is one of my five favorites. I highly recommend it.

We found the host so helpful, and the accommodation was beautiful, decorated with real taste. One of the best places we’ve stayed on the Camino.
