Casa Soleta Ezcaray

The setting is the best part. It's a short walk to the house, but parking isn't a problem, there's an open area nearby. The location is one of the best in town, close to the center yet very, very quiet, and the surroundings are beautiful. The house is very peaceful, but I wouldn't recommend it for more than four people. The sofa only seats four, and there's nowhere to store things in the kitchen, so we had to leave everything on the counter or windowsill. We wanted to use the oven, but it didn't work, and it was very, very dirty. The bathroom curtains need replacing too, they were filthy along the bottom. The upstairs bathroom was the same, and the shower area was in poor condition. The sheets and towels were very clean, but elsewhere in the house there was quite a bit of dust. We know insects come with the countryside, but this was a real infestation. Even after constantly sweeping the windowsill, black bugs kept falling from the wooden inside lintel above the window.

We went during Carnival and the whole town was caught up in the festivities. It was lovely seeing everyone celebrating in the square. We also had the best freshly baked doughnuts in the world, and tried the Michelin starred croquettes. The nearby Valdezcaray station was easy to get to, and the house even lent us a sled, which we had a great time using. The house was comfortable and warm, just as we'd discovered it, and they had left thoughtful basics like oil, salt, sugar, and kitchen towel. Valva and Isabel were warm, welcoming, and wonderful from the start. We'll definitely come back to the area and stay at this lovely house again.

The grill and outdoor dining gear were perfect to have. The house is lovely, clean, and had everything we needed for our weekend. It's close to the center but tucked into a very quiet area. 100% recommended.

Built in 1883, the house combines rustic and modern charm, and its amenities and services are incredible. It's easy to disconnect there and feel close to nature. The owners were attentive and helpful, and the price seemed more than reasonable for what the house offers. I didn't expect to enjoy a country house so much. It's cozy and perfectly oriented, with one of the best locations in Ezcaray. You're just a 2-minute walk from the center, far enough from the noise. Highly recommended.
