Pensión La Vía Láctea

The manager told me on arrival that the guesthouse was being renovated and asked whether I’d be okay staying at the Hostal Santiago instead. I was a bit apprehensive at first since nobody had let me know beforehand, but the switch turned out well. The facilities were improved, and they kept the original price. Service was very good, and the room was very clean, with a television and a little Wi-Fi.

They called us the same week we were due to stay and moved our booking for two double rooms at the Hostal Camino de Santiago to the Pensión, for the same price. They said it would be much better because we’d have an apartment to ourselves. We weren’t happy with it. The apartment was cold, there was just one bathroom for the four of us, and it was on the other side of town, next to the main square. A street party went on all night, so we barely slept. We didn’t enjoy the experience, sorry. Maybe it would have been different in other circumstances...

Though we only had a brief visit, it was fascinating to find so many lovely corners of "hidden Spain." At the café, the service was excellent, and the lady who served us was very kind and elegant.

The room was lovely and well kept, and the service was very friendly and flexible, with plenty of advice about what to see in the city. The guesthouse is in a great spot, right next to the Church of San Martin. We'll definitely be back.
