Pensión Úbeda

I’d booked here once before. The room was fine, but when my ferry was delayed and I arrived at 6:30 pm, I was met with grumpiness. I apologized profusely, then had to wait 20 minutes for someone to let me in. Three months later, I thought booking again on my circuit route would be easy and familiar. Instead, the automated and personal emails and WhatsApp messages kept coming, and I felt hassled. I sent photos of my passport and everything short of my DNA before I’d even arrived. My credit card should be enough before arrival, with the rest handled when you get there, as everywhere else. If I don’t show up, take the fee. The rudeness I encountered was the last straw. I’d rather arrange other accommodation and pay the €65 cancellation fee than knowingly arrive somewhere unpleasant. On the plus side, I found Hotel San Camilo, 5km away. They were warm, welcoming, and professional, the rooms are much better, and it’s the same price. I highly recommend it. Pension Ubeda, please reconsider your automated system. Booking a room for the night shouldn’t leave guests feeling harassed. Some tact would help too. Customers are paying for a service, and I don’t know anyone who’d pay for unpleasantness.

This is a lovely, cozy, clean hostal with good service and thoughtful details. Maria, the landlady, is happy to help with any extra information you need. There’s a restroom with a microwave, coffee machine, and filtered hot and cold water. The village is cool and surrounded by wine cellar culture, with plenty to do, including medieval villages, castles, wineries, and superb local gastronomy. Highly recommended.

The management canceled my reservation on their own shortly before my stay, even though I’d booked months ahead. They didn’t answer my emails, then listed the same room for the same dates on their website at a higher price. Shocking and disgusting behavior. Avoid Pension Ubeda unless you want your trip disrupted.
