Apartamentos El Trillo

A lovely balcony and Mediterranean-style interior, plus good WiFi. The place is clean and spacious, with great views of Alhambra and close to all the sights. That's pretty much everything you could want on a visit to Granada.

The rooftop terrace has wonderful views of the Alhambra and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. The apartment is spread across three levels: bedroom and shower vestibule on the ground floor, kitchen diner above, then the terrace on the top floor. The air-conditioned kitchen diner has a dishwasher and washing machine, though there's not much crockery. It's tucked into the narrow, cobbled lanes of the Albayzin, with most attractions a 5-10 minute walk away. Buses serve places farther out, and Cafe 4 Gatos and the local shop are only 100m away. The hillside means you'll be walking uphill or downhill wherever you go, and those cobbled paths make flat, practical shoes a good idea, if not essential. Best to leave driving through the lanes to locals who know where a mini can get through.

The apartment was lovely and the staff were friendly, but there was a lot of noise from builders working on the houses across the way. Cement mixers and workmen shouting started early and continued into the evening. Luckily, we were out most of the day.

We spent four nights here and loved the location for enjoying the heart of Granada. The staff were very friendly, and we'd definitely come back.
