Casa del Aljarife

I felt completely safe walking back alone late in the evening, and the location made it easy to walk to nearly everything. Damian was kind, quick to respond, and full of useful Granada tips. He made both arrival and departure easy, and cooked an amazing breakfast every day. This place is a dream. I'd come back in a heartbeat!

We were three, two parents and a teenager, and the first-floor room worked well for us. The house is more than 400 years old, with four distinctive rooms, and there's a pleasant shared courtyard where guests can sit. Our host Damian was great, and everything was clean and nice. A couple renting the top room can use the roof terrace. The location was great, too!

The private terrace, reached by a few steps outside, was magical for taking in the Alhambra, the city, and the sounds of the neighborhood. We stayed in November, and the room warmed up quickly when needed. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. Our room (#3) had its own Alhambra-view terrace, and the private bathroom, a few steps below the bedroom, had been updated with amenities. Damian's advice and hospitality helped make Granada a high point of our two months in Spain. He met us where the taxi dropped us and carried our bags up the steep streets, which we really appreciated. Then, in the pretty courtyard, he took his time with a map, explaining the area, city highlights, favorite restaurants, and more. Every suggestion worked out, from restaurants and dishes to places to visit and walks. He was friendly, respectful, patient, and wonderfully helpful. Casa del Aljarife is historic, charming, and perfectly placed. We highly recommend it.
