Hotel Balneario de Graena

A nice place.

The thermal circuit was a highlight, and the person looking after us there was especially kind and attentive. We spent two nights using a Smartbox gift card, which covered breakfast and access to the circuit. The staff were very friendly, and our room and bathroom were spotless; the bed was really comfortable too. Breakfast was fairly basic but had a decent range. One thing felt unsuitable: we were told to arrive already dressed in robes and slippers, even though getting to the spa meant going outdoors. It was 9 a.m. in December and quite chilly. Apart from that, we had a great stay.

The rooms are very small, and the hotel and spa both seemed short-staffed. The workers do what they can, but there just aren't enough of them, including for meal service, where two waiters can't manage. Several of us came out of the baths itching all over. I also found the excursions poorly suited to people with hiking limitations. The person organizing them seemed inexperienced and didn't mention the hills and stairs on some routes, even when asked. I returned recently from Graena 2 in Granada, and wouldn't recommend it. Calling this a four-star hotel feels like a stretch. During Easter week, entertainment was apparently stopped on management's orders, so there was no dancing or music. There are better choices in livelier places.

Sandra, our entertainer, was fantastic, and we had a lovely time with her. We also fell in with a very sociable group and all got along. We were there November 2nd to 11th through the Imserso Thermal Spa program, and came away with an unforgettable few days. The spa is well worth recommending. Hotel staff were generally professional, warm, and kind. I hope we can return. Hugs to everyone.
