Noise was easily the worst part. We could hear conversations, chairs scraping, people arriving and leaving, kids in the hall, and even neighbors using the bathroom upstairs. Showers nearby made the pipes roar like a rainstorm, waking us several times. Earplugs didn’t help much, and sounds carried through the courtyard too. Even ordinary cleaning was loud, and groups were often noisy early in the morning or late at night. For a stay in Granada, we’d suggest finding somewhere else. Food is cheap enough that you don’t need to cook, and a clean, quiet hotel would be better value. We felt a bit scammed. There were a few useful things, including easy self check-in, towels, basic cooking supplies like oil, salt, and pepper, and plenty of closet space. But the apartment was dirtier and more worn than the photos suggested. There was black mold in the shower, dust piled on the bedroom light above the bed, stains on the white sofa and headboard, and a strong drain smell whenever we came in. The floor tiles were marked and stained, so it was hard to tell if they’d been cleaned properly. Hot water lasted only around 10 minutes, and the door wouldn’t shut all the way. We travel often and have stayed in places across different countries and price ranges, and this was among our least comfortable stays.

Alhambra is right there in the shadow above this spot, and the location is brilliant. The city is a five minute walk away. If you’re planning a day trip to Alhambra, though, taking the bus is strongly recommended because the uphill walk is a long one and isn’t doable with a physical impediment.

Granada Santa Ana was a horrendous experience. We couldn’t get the correct codes to enter, then followed a man into the building and found a construction site in the middle of the two level building, cordoned off with dust circulating. Our room was beside it. We left, took photos, and told their call centre we weren’t staying because the conditions were uninhabitable. We had booked three nights and had to find another hotel about a 10 minute walk away. Limehome offered a pitiful refund of one third of one night, which we never received, so we lost about $800 and nearly lost our Granada stay altogether. I believe Limehome is a multinational company that scams people. When I tried to upload the photos to their review site, they blocked them and threatened us by uploading personal passport photos, which would be a serious privacy breach. I also feel companies like this exploit the local community and take money out of the country. Don’t book there. We would have rated it minus 5 if that were possible.

The place was dusty and dark, with a strong unpleasant smell in the room and stained, bad smelling furniture. There was work going on inside, but they weren’t transparent about it. Construction around the entrance made the place hard to find, and the remote managed hotel system and poor communication meant we couldn’t get an access code because of a system problem. The location itself is excellent, but my one day Granada tour was ruined. I chose it because of the high ratings, and my trip was completely ruined. Customer service is still negotiating with me about a refund instead of processing it. Be careful considering this hotel.

The suite had lots of space and felt quiet and authentic. Getting our luggage in was harder because the street was closed. We didn’t know about the closure, so we carried the bags up one set of stairs, then had to backtrack and use another.
