The room was quiet and comfortable, with very comfortable beds and top-notch linen. We couldn’t get the air conditioning or heating controls to respond, though. Our maid, who looked after room 431 from 16/01 through 22/01, was a real credit to the hotel. She greeted us warmly and had the room ready whenever we came back from breakfast. Breakfast staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. There was a good spread of fruit, cereal, seeds, yoghurt, cheese and ham, which helped make up for the hot food. That was nearly always cold and not especially good. The one time hot eggs were brought out, they were already congealed and clearly not freshly cooked. I took a star off for the reception service. On countless occasions I walked past hoping for eye contact and didn’t get any kind of greeting. Once in a while I got an “Ola!”, but usually the staff were looking down or talking among themselves. It leaves a poor impression.

The standout for us was Nervio by Periko Ortega inside the hotel. Its menu mixes traditional dishes with a contemporary touch and newer creations, and the food was full of flavor, excellent quality, and matched by top-level service. The rooms are modern, clean, and well cared for, with a fantastic walk-in shower. There are elegant shared spaces too, including The Level lounge, which has indoor and outdoor seating and a stunning view across the whole city. Access is reserved for TheLevel guests. Breakfast was nicely laid out, with plenty of choice. The hotel is right in the center and very convenient, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and always smiling, in keeping with the standards I’ve come to expect from Meliá Hotels. Highly recommended.

The executive lounge happy hour was my favorite part, especially with those views. From the rooftop lounge you can see the Alhambra clearly. The room was spacious, stylish, modern, and super clean, and I liked the lobby too. It’s on a quiet road, within walking distance of lots of shops and the old cathedral. This was my favorite hotel stay during my two weeks in Spain. Highly recommend it if you’re coming to Granada.

Nervio by Periko Ortega served fresh, delicious seafood, and the restaurant team kept checking that I was enjoying the food. The service there was spot on. Breakfast in The Level Lounge was pretty good, though it got a little crowded. Before I went in, the friendly receptionist on the 6th floor asked how my night had been and whether I’d slept well. The lounge view of the Alhambra is great. Check-in was easy, and the staff welcomed me right away. I stayed in a suite in The Level. It was exceptionally clean and modern, with a very large room for a solo traveler. The shower area was huge, big enough that you could almost sleep in there and still have room for your luggage. The hotel’s close to the cathedral, within walking distance of Albaicin, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. I didn’t feel at ease in the corridors. The lights are dimmed by default and only come on when you step into each area, so coming out of the elevator meant facing a dark, empty hallway. It felt creepy and unsettling, and I dashed to my room each time. The door was another concern. From outside, it wouldn’t lock properly, and I could push it open without a key card. I had to slam it shut several times before it would catch. The Level suites are oddly on the first floor facing the street, though the soundproofing kept out most traffic noise. I’d recommend the hotel, especially if you’re prepared to pay extra for The Level rooms. The service deserves five stars, but the issues above cost it one.

Antonia at reception went out of her way to make my stay pleasant, and I really appreciated it. The buffet food was good, the rate was reasonable, and the staff were very friendly. The location is great too.
