MARTIN J.
It’s a pretty standard castle for this area, from the time it was ruled by rival King Peters.

Claudia R.
The village is lovely, and it clearly understands its surroundings.
Lucia M.
Lovely place, and the hosts were wonderful.
Pierre M.
Staying in this castle was such a great experience!
MIGUEL T.
The outer wall is ashlar masonry and still forms the first line of protection around the site, though some sections have stability issues. The castle sits on a promontory in the middle of Grisel, and its roughly rectangular plan follows the ground, with one of the long walls bending slightly. Its sturdy build and defensive features make sense given its history as a border stronghold between Aragon and Castile. The architecture reflects centuries of sieges, shifting loyalties, and strategic changes, rather than being just decorative. Chronicles mention the castle as early as 1106. It became more politically important under Lope Ferrench de Luna in the 14th century. During the conflicts between Castile and Aragon, it was extensively restored and altered, taking on the Gothic military appearance it still has after repeated sieges. Once the area was pacified in the 16th century, it came under the jurisdiction of the Bishopric of Tarazona.
