Cueva La Ermita

We had to wait an hour for the keys and check-in, even though I’d given them our arrival time a week earlier. They couldn’t sort out who was coming to meet us. Inside, it wasn’t clean, and there was no Wi-Fi, coffee maker, or cleaning supplies. The views from this place they call a “cave” were of a cement mixer, bricks, and rubble, and it barely felt like a cave. The photos looked nothing like the real place. If you can avoid staying here, do.

For a few nights, this is a lovely little place to stay. It’s set at the top of a pretty small village, so the stay feels a bit different. There’s a walk-in shower, a kitchen that’s nice to use, and beds for a group, two singles and two doubles. The cave is nicely decorated, with heating, a TV, and Wi-Fi.

The price didn’t match what we ended up renting, and they had us take two houses even though we’d told them how many people could fit in one. We thought we’d booked Cueva La Ermita, but when we arrived the owner took us to a different rural house, Hermita II. Its photos on site and Booking.com didn’t match the actual place. Outside, there were piles of rubble and garbage, and the views were poor. Inside the first house, the beds were hard, and we found dirty sheets in the one on the left, which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The Wi-Fi was unreliable too. In the house on the right, we were cold and there was a lot of dampness. Being misled like that doesn’t deserve even one star.

There was no Wi-Fi, and the fridge barely cooled, if at all. We were three people but only had two towels for the whole stay. The bed dipped in the middle, so none of us slept well. We’d been told the pool was private, but it was shared with the other two caves and was quite dirty while we were there. Also, the photos didn’t show the accommodation we actually got. On the plus side, it was quite clean, parking was right by the door, and the outdoor table and chairs were a nice touch. There’s a viewpoint just above the cave with good views.
