We chose this room partly for the comfortable bed and the air conditioning, and had a pleasant night. It was neat and clean, especially the bathroom, which had good ventilation. There wasn't any noise nearby.

The breakfast was coffee, juice, a croissant, toast and fruit. My room was warm, clean and comfortable, with an ensuite bathroom. I was there for two days for a function in Hernani, and the staff made the biggest difference. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Cris at reception went out of her way to make the stay as good as possible. She really is a tremendous asset to the hotel. I'd stay again.

The hotel itself is great, but plan ahead if you're coming for work. There are only two hotels in this city, and extending your stay can be a real problem; there aren't nearby alternatives. The Basque Country isn't like Andalusia, where you can find a nice, cheap hotel on every corner, so book well in advance.

We won't be coming back. The rooms smelled of smoke, and staff tried to fix it by spraying the bedding with freshener. That left it damp and with an overpowering, awful smell. The bunk beds were held together with tape. We were told breakfast was at 7 a.m., but when we came down then, we were told it started at 8. About four families were waiting, and we left without eating. One staff member was very rude and unhelpful.

The bedrooms smelled of smoke, and the rooms were dirty with bunk beds. Bring mosquito repellent. Breakfast was basic, just coffee, croissants and orange juice, for €3.50.
