La Casa del Tio Venancio

The honey-glazed lamb was sublime, and we finished with a dessert they make only here, called "Los Vientos" (The Winds). We also tried gachas, Castilian soup, cocido, and assorted croquettes. Whatever you choose, you'll be pleased. We had a fantastic meal and everything was spectacular.

The staff were polite and helpful, and everything was very clean. There's a central patio for smokers, plus separate spaces for groups, families, or couples. The furniture and old pieces used in the decor give it a lot of character. The restaurant is right on the main square in Caracenilla, with the bar and dining room in separate areas. The dishes are simple, but nicely prepared and tasty. I visited with a group of friends for a meal and don't know anything about the accommodation.

We first came for lunch while staying at a rural hotel in Caracenilla, then returned the following day because there were so many other things we wanted to try. The food and treats were wonderful, but Leo's hospitality was the best part. We felt right at home :)

We got a table only because another booking fell through, even though we hadn't reserved, so booking ahead is probably best. The food was excellent, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
