Drago Hostel

The rooftop looks out over El tiède and the ocean, and it’s a lovely spot to have breakfast. They bake fresh bread each day for the continental spread. This little hostel in Icod is quiet, clean, and tidy, with a great location and really friendly staff. They can lend you a towel if you need one.

Room 3 had a serious mold problem in the bathroom, and the room smelled musty. It stayed dark, with just an LED strip behind the bed as the main light. The bed was odd too, a 160 cm mattress on a 180 cm frame. It took about 15 minutes to walk to the city center, and the coffee was cold in the morning. I doubt the jacuzzi has been there for many years, so they should remove it from the pictures.

I really liked the big, cozy terrace and the spacious room, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was free and served at a communal table, which made it easy to chat with other guests. The price and location were both great, and the staff were friendly and ready to help. The kitchen had plenty of space and was well equipped, while curtains around the beds gave you some privacy. There were some practical annoyances: the small lockers were all taken, and otherwise belongings were left on the floor. The bathrooms had no hooks, and street noise could bother light sleepers. Even so, this is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in on Tenerife.

Breakfast came on time with a good choice of food, including the homemade cakes I loved. The staff were caring and well organized, and the kitchen and bathroom stayed clean throughout.
