My Space Barcelona- Bonanova for 8 people

For our 16-night stay, the apartment was filthy and nothing like the website description. The toaster, microwave, and other kitchen appliances were too dirty to use, and even the washer dryer was dirty. We complained from the start. They said someone had come to do an extra cleaning, but nobody ever did. After we contacted Apartur - Association of Tourist Apartments in Barcelona, My Space finally emailed us. They said the owners wouldn’t offer compensation because we supposedly hadn’t complained until the end of the stay, which is completely untrue. We sent photos and raised the problems several times with Vanessa, Aamir, and Tony. We’re very disappointed and will continue pursuing the complaint with the Catalan Consumer Protection agency.

The apartment was nice, and the service was good when our group of seven arrived late from our flight for the Barcelona Marathon in March this year. We paid a small extra charge for out-of-hours check-in, which seemed reasonable. Getting the security deposit back was another matter. They swiped a guest’s credit card and said the money would be refunded when we left. More than two months later, we got the refund from the credit card company after filing an official complaint. Before that, we’d sent countless polite emails and Facebook messages asking for the money, and were told it would be handled urgently. I’d suggest finding a more reputable company to rent from in Barcelona.

The apartments don’t look like their listings, and there’s a long list of rules, including not using the balcony after 8pm. Be aware that Myspace Barcelona seems to try its absolute best to avoid refunding the 300-400 euro security deposit. We got ours back a month after leaving, only after dozens of emails and phone calls. They twice said the refund was complete, but both times that turned out to be lies. We’re not the only ones this has happened to, so don’t expect to get your money back on the first try.

The apartments were pleasant enough, but our £350 deposit still hasn’t been returned after our stay the weekend before last. There was no damage caused by us, yet they’re refusing to refund it. I’ve seen other reviewers describe the same problem. The office was supposedly staffed from morning until night, but we never found anyone there. The air conditioning barely worked, the patio doors wouldn’t lock, and the apartments weren’t serviced. A disgrace. Don’t book here.
