The Hotel 592

We walked all over from here, including to the beach, basilica, castle, casino, and marina. La Rambla was about four blocks away, and we felt safe walking the streets late at night, while staying alert for pickpockets as we'd been advised. Our tour van brought us from the cruise ship and dropped us at the hotel, so we only needed a taxi for the airport after two nights. It was a 40-euro ride, but we don't mind being away from jet noise. The room looked over the downstairs bar and la Placa Universitat. With the window shut, the place was quiet and well insulated, though it was also nice to open it and hear the neighborhood. Entry was by key and felt secure. Some reviewers call it a “hostel,” but to me it felt more like a “hostal,” a different vibe. Maybe that's why the name says “adults only.” Maria Dolores gave us breakfast tickets for both mornings. The bar accepted them for excellent breakfasts, with good wifi and a choice of orange juice and great coffee, or mimosa, beer, and wine. Service there was excellent. Since our flight was at 3 a.m., they let us use the tickets the night before and take breakfast to the shared kitchenette, which had a fridge, wifi, and coffee machine. The mattress was comfortable, the linens clean, and the shower really big. The bathroom wasn't tiny, the storage cabinet met our needs, and we could fit a very large checked bag, two carry-ons, and two backpacks. Having the kitchenette was a bonus you don't get at a 4-star hotel. The manager was lovely and helped us at every step. It was a fantastic stay, and three stars doesn't do the hotel justice. We look forward to coming back.

We had a tasty breakfast at the bar downstairs, where you can also have a beer in the evening. The rooms were large, tidy, and clean, with tea and coffee available. It's easy to reach from the airport and right in the heart of the city, but double windows kept things quiet. The staff were kind and helpful, and it made a great base for visiting Barcelona.

The bar and restaurant team were outstanding, and the place felt like home during our six nights. It's about 200m from Placa Catalunya. Our room was nice, the beds were comfortable, and the noise protection was good. Coffee and water were free, too. Really good value for money. We'd definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant!

Buses and the metro are right by the plaza Universitat, so you can get almost anywhere in Barcelona. The location is good, and the place has what I need in a hotel: it's clean and has a private bathroom, which is a must for me.
