Hotel Atalaia

The staff are the reason Hotel Atalaia keeps bringing me back. Everyone is warm, professional and attentive, and they make the place feel welcoming. I’ve stayed several times, and each visit has been lovely. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, with a homey feel, and the location makes it easy to get where you need to go. I’d choose Hotel Atalaia again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable stay and good service.

There’s a great atmosphere at Marina Portua, with kids playing and adults chatting over drinks along the bars and restaurants on a few parallel streets. The hotel itself is right by a roundabout, about two minutes from the main autobahn, and parking is directly in front. The service was really friendly. The bed was spacious and comfortable. Both the room and bathroom were clean and roomy, though they lacked character and charm. More suitable decoration would make the room feel better.

The hotel’s restaurant gets excellent reviews, which made our dinner experience even more disappointing. It’s closed on Wednesday nights, and we were told both when booking and on arrival that there were several places a short walk away in the commercial centre. That’s true if you want KFC, kebabs or McDonald’s. We tried Udlarde, another restaurant, and were served the worst-looking meal we’ve ever seen. After 12 hours of driving from southern Spain, all we wanted was a decent dinner, and we didn’t get one. Avoid Wednesdays if you’re planning to eat here. The hotel itself is stylish and lovely, conveniently located for the motorway. Our room was well appointed, with a beautiful en-suite, comfortable bed and quality pillows and linen. I’d recommend it for accommodation.

A nice place, with friendly staff, a clean and spacious room and bathroom, and a generous breakfast with plenty to choose from. Charging an electric car costs €15, which unfortunately isn’t mentioned on the website. The Tesla chargers don’t work.
