Hotel Barcelo Isla Cristina

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the pools are thoroughly cleaned each morning, and the children’s entertainment is brilliant. The food and drink selection on all inclusive was great too. Staff work incredibly hard to keep guests happy, with the beach close by and shops nearby. Still, the pool rules were frustrating. Floats aren’t allowed, and I think one pool for adults and one for families would work better. One family was also told no water toys, leaving the kids with nothing to play with. I spoke to the manager, who was great and agreed it was fine, especially as water shooters had been allowed the day before. The 30-minute sunbed rule also seems to depend on who’s on duty. I don’t object to a policy, but today they were going to take my towel and belongings while I was in the pool. Thirty minutes isn’t long, especially when it’s busy at lunchtime and you have young kids or are just relaxing in the water. The music is another issue. I thought the people complaining might be overreacting, but the evening entertainment starts late and it was still blasting at 23.40. I chose this hotel after staying at the Occidental in Menorca, which was faultless. If the hotel extended the sunbed limit to 1 hour and turned the music down a little, I’d recommend it to anyone. As things are, the towel policing and excessive noise don’t feel like the family holiday I paid for.

We spent 7 nights here on an all-inclusive basis and had a very good stay. The food was fantastic, with different meals each day. The entertainment team had a full program of really fun games that made our time feel lively and enjoyable. Special thanks to Edu for being cheerful every single day.

The entertainment team kept things fun from morning to night, always full of energy and ready with an activity. Edu deserves a special thanks for being cheerful every day and making us feel welcome. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and well organized, and the setting gave us the peaceful getaway we wanted.
