Balneario Hotel Serón De Serón

Just relaxing.

There are nice places nearby to visit, including the Piedra Monastery, and some local restaurants that can make a stay more pleasant. The hotel itself feels like it's seen better days, though. The reception staff generally weren't very helpful. If you're booking a fifth-floor room, some are near the elevators, so ask for one farther away. The food is decent, but there are lots of senior citizens and the menus are geared toward them. The outdoor pool and the restaurant beside it are pleasant spots for a drink or even dancing. There are walking and reading areas if you want to unwind. The spa has different activities, though I remember many senior citizens there too. The main ones were bingo, dancing, and more bingo. As the highlight of a spa resort, it's small and rather neglected.

The room was fine, but the bathroom was the worst part. You have to do acrobatics to stop water splashing past the curtain. The buffet was so-so and reminded me a bit of a school cafeteria, while the spa looked old and neglected. I'm sure the hotel and its services were better years ago. Maybe 30 or 40 years back it was even a luxurious place, but time has taken its toll and things need attention and renovation. For what we paid, though, it was acceptable.

The gardens and surroundings are beautiful, and the thermal baths, though small, were adequate. Our room was spacious but the bathroom felt cramped. The food was mixed, some things good and others bad. Breakfast's orange juice was the worst I've ever had.
