The lunch menu at Bar Sario was very good. It’s the only bar-restaurant in tiny Jaurriete, though, and its opening hours are quite specific, so plan ahead if you want dinner. We stayed at Casa Ayabe, where Martina was an excellent host. The house and rooms made a great base for the Irati forest and peña Ezkaurre. Breakfast was good, but all sweet things, like bread, pastries, marmalade, and honey.
We spent four nights at Mrs. Martina's and slept so well, the mattress was incredibly comfortable and the village was quiet and peaceful. The location worked well for excursions to the Pyrenees villages, the Irati Forest, and nearby places. Everything was clean and orderly, and breakfast was generous, fantastic, and very reasonably priced. Martina was attentive throughout and made sure we had what we needed to feel comfortable. She also shared printed information about the area, and her son could send a digital version. We were completely satisfied with the stay.
The village is lovely and peaceful, and the house itself is spectacular. Martina is charming, and we had a wonderful five days enjoying the area. One thing to know, unrelated to the house, is that the village has just one bar and restaurant, with limited hours. It opens for dinner at 9:00 PM and only serves sandwiches then. The staff are lovely, and lunch there is very good.
We were very happy with our stay. Mrs. Martina was friendly but discreet, and the beds were really comfortable. The homemade breakfasts were generous, and the house was spotless. Everything was excellent.
Martina runs an impressive house and is a charming woman, always willing to help make your stay enjoyable.
