Hotel Eurostars Monte Real

The staff were courteous, though service was slow and they seemed short-handed. What really let the stay down was the hotel's condition: the rooms felt old and neglected, with worn furniture, peeling paint, and broken appliances. Cleanliness and upkeep weren't what I expected for the price. I wouldn't recommend staying here before it gets a serious renovation.

The front desk woman working afternoons through 11 PM was wonderful. I can't remember her name, but she had a Basque name. She was so friendly, suggested restaurants, asked how our day was, and kept the lobby's lemon water topped up. The area itself is nice, though there isn't much to do nearby. A local neighborhood restaurant is only a two-minute walk away and had really good food. We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant, and breakfast was good. Our room was very clean, and we had a balcony, though its exterior door needed work. The hotel could use some updating outside.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but the hotel isn't being looked after well. There was mold in the bathroom, which was plainly visible, and a noticeable damp smell. In the dining room, we saw a spider on the ceiling and a little lizard moving around.

Breakfast was great compared with the rooms, and the staff were really nice. The rooms are a little dated, but clean enough and fine for sleeping, with a comfortable bed. The gym is small, though it has a treadmill and a few benches. It was enough for my business trip.
