Hotel Nova Centro

The room decor is very basic, but the reception staff were good and the shower and bed were fine. There’s air conditioning and a hairdryer, too. I booked without breakfast, and breakfast started at EUR 3 for toast with a choice of spreads and coffee. The location is convenient, within walking distance of the shopping area and restaurants.

I hate rooms without an outside window, and I would never have booked this one if I’d known. Some rooms look straight onto the hotel corridor, so anyone passing less than a metre away can see right to the bed unless you keep the blinds shut. It feels claustrophobic, and there’s no way to air the room. Mine smelled a little like old cigarettes masked with air freshener, and I couldn’t get fresh air in or dry the bathroom after a shower. If the building layout makes this unavoidable, these rooms should still be clearly listed as windowless so guests know what they’re booking.

The hosts were warm and very helpful, and the hotel itself is beautiful, with lots of heritage and cultural touches. Excellent!

For the price, it’s a nice place. The staff were pleasant, and my room turned out quieter than I’d first expected.
