Eurostars Blue Coruña

A reasonably priced hotel with nice rooms, a central location, and friendly staff. Breakfast was good too.

I’d never stayed in a four-star hotel before. The local paper was waiting in the lobby, and breakfast was great and affordable. There are speakers in the bathroom, so I could keep listening to the football game on local television while I showered! I didn’t need to go up to the roof to see the views, unfortunately.

The room was clean and bright thanks to the double doors to the terrace, with a comfortable bed and a shower that worked well. It was a bit basic, though. We chose one of the only two rooms with a roof terrace, looking toward the beach on one side and the harbour on the other. Many other rooms face a somewhat dark internal courtyard and have no terrace or balcony. Our room had a pod coffee machine, which was a bonus, but the water never got hot enough for tea. I couldn’t find a way to leave the terrace doors on the latch for nighttime ventilation, so they were either open or closed. We also weren’t given a do-not-disturb sign, and housekeeping came in while we were getting ready. I hung some 'Police line - do not cross' tape from a lamp post on the door the next night, and that worked! After that, they gave us a proper sign. The hotel has no restaurant or coffee shop, though the breakfast area offers free tea and coffee from a machine in the afternoon. The location is decent, one street from the park and waterfront, in an area with restaurants and shopping. At check-in, a cheerful, helpful receptionist had our room ready even though we arrived early at midday. It’s not a bad hotel, but it doesn’t have the luxury of many others from this group.

The hotel has a wonderful location, modern, attractive rooms with everything you need, and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. One thing could be fixed: everyone seemed to struggle with the lid on the hot food container. It wouldn’t stay open, so you had to hold it while serving yourself. One of my friends dropped food because of it. The cleaner was very patient and cleaned it up quickly, but this seems avoidable. Also, well done to the receptionist for speaking English :)
