Barceló La Nucia Palms – Adults Recommended

We wanted a peaceful holiday and this was just right. It’s a little out of the way, so you’ll need a taxi or rental car to explore, but we were happy to stay put. The pool area was immaculate, with plenty of loungers and a good mix of sun and shade. Lifeguards were quick to remove towels when people left them behind, so nobody was reserving beds and we could take our time at breakfast before heading down. We were a little nervous about bringing our four-month-old, but other families were there too, with well-behaved children, which put us at ease. Everything was perfect for our five nights. The hotel is beautiful, modern, clean, and clearly well looked after. Staff were polite and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. They arranged a cot, brought us a kettle for warming formula bottles, and even gave us a plate to cover the sterilising bucket. I’d seen comments about rude staff, but that wasn’t our experience at all. Breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from, and they made fried eggs, omelettes, and pancakes fresh. We didn’t have dinner because we prefer eating out, and there are some lovely little restaurants a 10-minute walk away. Our room was very clean and spacious, with strong air conditioning, a lovely rain shower, and a small patio. We had the “cheapest” room type and it was plenty big enough. They’re environmentally conscious and only change sheets and towels if you ask. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I’ve slept in. A perfect first family holiday, and I’d happily come back for longer.

The staff looked stressed and overworked, and it was clear they weren’t enjoying the job. Management seems focused on saving money and shows little appreciation for the workers. I was told tips are kept by management and extra hours aren’t paid. There didn’t seem to be experienced staff, just young people running around like headless chickens. The whole operation needs a change in management. The hotel is next to a busy road and has no sea views. The buffet had poor variety, and there were never strawberries at breakfast. The fish wasn’t good quality, apparently frozen and brought from overseas. I was told they buy leftover fish tails for €6 per kilo, along with end-of-day market goods. A great mess of an organization. Disgusting.

My birthday is 11.12.25, and although today’s lovely gesture was for a different reason, we really appreciated it. Thanks to everyone involved. The Tataru family will definitely return.

We had a very nice stay and got lucky with the weather, so we could enjoy the pools. The superior double room was really comfortable. Breakfast was among the best I’ve had, with good quality food, though the coffee could be better. Parking felt too expensive for what it was, so we used the supermarket across from the hotel instead. It’s free and there were always spaces available. Overall, I’d highly recommend the hotel.
