Hostal El Bouquet

The mountain views are something I'll never forget, and the front of the hostel looked magical with its lights and pine branches. Dolors, the owner, had the warmth of a fairy godmother for travelers looking for a bit of magic. Every detail had its own charm and personality, and dinner at the restaurant felt like a Catalan masterpiece. This place was better than the Christmas dream I'd always hoped to find. I never knew somewhere like it existed, and I'm eager to return. It made me believe in Christmas magic again.

Dolors made us feel at home as soon as we walked through the door, and even offered us a superior room at no extra cost, which we really appreciated. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated, and parking was easy, with plenty of space. We also loved the food, made with good ingredients and a homemade touch. Dolors arranged a special gluten-free breakfast for us and surprised us with a delicious gluten-free cheesecake. The location is great too, with nature all around and a good base for exploring the Boí Valley or just enjoying the quiet. Hostal Bouquet de Taüll is a little mountain inn with charm, comfort and exceptional service, the sort of place that feels like it's straight from a fairytale. It's much more than a hostel, it's an experience that makes you want to return. Thanks, Dolors, for making it so special!

We stayed in an apartment here a few years ago with my three dogs, and the welcome was cold. They gave me unfriendly looks and made comments about the dogs even though I'd called ahead. For the record, they were well behaved and didn't damage anything. We had no other option then, so we stayed. The restaurant is very good and the location convenient, which is why I tried booking again this year despite the earlier attitude. Nothing seemed to have changed when I called. They gave excuses for not allowing dogs in rooms, saying they'd had bad experiences before, that dogs shed, and that two dogs wouldn't fit in one room. If that's true, then every other hotel we've stayed in, including my own home, must be lying. They reluctantly accept dogs only in the apartment, without providing bedding in case they soil it, so you have to pay for an apartment and bring your own bedding. It sounds unbelievable, but that's how it was, in my opinion. If you have dogs, this isn't the place for you. They should simply say they don't accept pets and spare themselves the lame excuses. It's a shame, as I wanted to book full board in a room during peak season and was willing to pay extra for pets. I suppose they'll fill up anyway and don't want any problems.

The restaurant is decent value for money, and the staff are friendly and treat you like family. It's a cozy mountain hostel in a good spot with easy parking. The rooms aren't very big, but they're good and have everything you need. Soundproofing is the one downside, though you can still rest and have some peace during sleep hours.
