Hotel Spa Norat Torre do Deza

The rooms are huge, and everything was clean and tidy. It's handy for pilgrims, but expensive for a place whose glory has faded. It's on a main road in an industrial area, with nothing else around.

After a long day on the Caminos Sanabres and Invierno, the staff treated us kindly and respectfully even though we arrived tired, sweaty, smelly, and exhausted. We were quickly checked in, and our room was huge and clean. The food and bar service were amazing, so I definitely recommend it. We were redirected here from the Camino Sanabres because the local albergue in A Laxa had decided to close for the day, just because?!?!, or perhaps for band practice. Eight other pilgrims who'd also been redirected from A Laxa soon joined us. One group of pilgrims had walked two towns farther toward Santiago, then took a taxi back here because it was highly rated and less expensive than the options along the Camino.

A great hotel for a group. We arrived with 43 people, and the hotel looked after us really well.

The hotel was very clean and tidy, and the reception staff were welcoming and clearly well trained. Our first room was neat too, but the bath water stayed cold after several tries. The woman at reception tested it and found the same problem, then checked another room, which had the same issue. We went to dinner while she arranged a replacement room. In the new room, everything was similarly neat and tidy, and at last we had hot water. We slept fine. The spa was small but adequate, though its water was cold and made for an unpleasant experience. Dinner felt like a workers' canteen, with very basic table settings. We had to ask for a wine glass and were expected to use a water glass. There was plenty of food to choose from and it seemed well cooked, but it wasn't hot. In my opinion, the dining hall feels cold because of where it's located, and the food cools quickly. There was also a stale smell, like old food. The dining room didn't feel like a four-star experience, perhaps one star. Management needs to oversee this area, support the waiters, and provide training. Overall, this hotel is definitely not four star and needs a lot of improvement. Hopefully this feedback helps.
