Cortijo

The room was spacious, with a fan and nice big windows. The decor is a little dated, but that didn't bother me. It's an affordable little hotel, spotlessly clean, and the staff were nice. I called to reserve, but it wasn't necessary, so I just turned up and got a room. Recommended!

The room was poor value at 75 Euro for one night, including the extra 10 Euro charge for a double bed. It felt like a hostel trying to be a two-star hotel, and I wouldn't stay again. The room was small and very dated, with poor lighting, a bathroom that needs replacing, and lots of noise from other rooms. The sheet also had what looked like a blood stain on it. The listing on Google says free breakfast, but there was no breakfast at all, just a couple of vending machines outside on the terrace. Free parking meant parking on the street. From outside, the place looks nice enough. Inside, my wife couldn't bathe without wetting her hair because the shower wasn't adjustable, and there was no bath plug. The kid at the desk got one from another room.

Some rooms have balconies with views across the bay, and their small baths are just right for sitting up and reading. The beach is less than a minute away. Laredo has a ludicrous number of bars and restaurants for its size, starting just nearby. As is usual in Spain, all the staff are extremely friendly.

Clean room, comfy bed, and a handy location. It's perfectly fine for the reasonable price, though it's not the Ritz. If you're passing through town and need somewhere inexpensive, give Cortijo a shot.
