The location in the historic center was excellent, near museums, historic buildings, and the market, and it was easy to get around on foot or by bus. For under 70 euros a night, the price was good. The staff were very friendly, especially the young man, and the old building had an atmosphere that reminded me of another era. I stayed six nights in an internal second-floor room. It was quiet from the square, with light from a skylight that didn't seem natural. The room was tidy on alternate days when it was cleaned, with open iron shelving for clothes. I skipped the roughly 7-euro daily breakfast after reading that nearby places were a better option. There was an unpleasant smell from the drains. Strong air fresheners in the room only made it worse, so I unplugged them. Maintenance was lacking, particularly on the wooden railings, floors, and staircase. There was no elevator or other way to get luggage upstairs, so the place isn't suitable for people with mobility issues, and is completely inaccessible for them or for children. These issues didn't bother me much because I only came back to shower and sleep, but the drainage problem needs fixing and the hotel needs a major renovation. If they did the renovation this historic building deserves, I'd gladly stay again.

Worst stay I've had. There were no blankets on the beds when we arrived, so I had to ask for them. We had no hot water until the second day. Breakfast had problems every day: the coffee machine was broken on day two, there was no bread on day three, and no water on day four.

The location is what saves this place. I stayed a few nights in February with my Mum in room 21, which was bright, spacious, and lovely, with a clean bathroom, a beautiful balcony view, and a fridge. Reception staff were mostly friendly. Breakfast was very poor. Even with only a few guests in the quiet dining room, we had to ask for everything each day. A rude man rationed the food and watched our every move, which made us uncomfortable. On our last day, the coffee machine was off and had been replaced with a jug of instant coffee, with no explanation.

For a one-star hotel, this was incredible, which says something about how odd hotel ratings can be. The spacious room was immaculate, in a beautiful historic building overlooking a plaza with a park where children were playing. I would definitely return to the heart of the historic center. I say that as someone who's spent years in five-star hotels in Paris and Milan. If you're after fancy amenities or a stocked minibar, though, this isn't the place.

We had a lovely night and were lucky to get a room with a balcony. Watching the palm trees rustle with a glass of wine was such a treat. The room was basic but clean, just right for a quick overnight after the madness in Playa del Inglés. The location was perfect, and the guy at reception was super friendly. Right next door we had delicious pizza with dates and goat cheese. We'll be back next time!
